The figure of Nampar Gyalwy emanates light, his right hand is raised above his head while his palm is directed upwards which symbolizes his power over the sky. His left hand, in sambhogakaya form, is placed in a supressing mudra symbolizing his dominion over the earth. Each of us can always turn to Nampar Gyalwa for help when trying to conquer the evil and find peace again.

The Chinese Emperor - Kontse Trulgyal – was building a magnificent sacred shrine on an island for Tonpa Shenrab’s  teachings. The evil maras, the enemies of enlightenment, gathered all evil beings so as to destroy the shrine. The Emperor was distraught and called to the heavens for help.  He cried to Buddha so that the shrine was rescued and Yungdrung Bon teachings could be saved for all sentient beings.

Tonpa Shenrab heard the cries and out of compassion he immediately appeared with a retinue of guards. The Emperor was extremely surprised and happy at the sight of  Tonpa Shenrab, who manifested himself in the figure of Nampar Gyalwa. Nampar Gyalwa sat in a meditation posture - known as Victory posture - emanating magnificent bright light. Unable to bear the purity of the light as well as the enormous power of Nampar Gyalwa, all evil creatures (scorpions, snakes, crocodiles, nagas and other inferior ones) soon disappeared.

One hundred syllable mantra is full of the strength of Tonpa Shenrab and all his helpers. It is used in exceptionally difficult times for protection or purification. It is also a part of numerous practices, both purifying as well as healing ones.

Moreover, it is known as a mantra connected with success as it can remove all possible obstacles a practitioner may encounter on his or her way. It is even more powerful than Dzambala mantra as it is the mantra of the Tonpa Shenrab himself.
